    Some sales and market numbers for those who are interested. Translation from German article (source)


    In 2015, BMW sold 136,963 bikes (+10.9% compared to 2014). More than half run with the boxer engine. This is the fifth year in a row with a sales record for BMW. The market growth for engines >500ccm included 26 countries worldwide.


    The biggest market for BMW is Germany with 23,823 bikes and a market share of 25%, followed by the USA with 16,501 bikes sold. Next in the ranking are France (12,550),Italy (11,150),GB (8,200) and Spain (7,976).


    The R line has the biggest share of all production lines with 73,357 bikes or 53.6%. The most successful model is (as always) the R 1200 GS.

    2) R 1200GS Adventure (18,011)
    3) R 1200RT (10,955)
    4) R 9T (9,545)
    5) R 1200R (6,951)
    6) R 1200 RS (4,208)


    Ranking S line sports bikes (total 21,110)
    1) S 1000 RR (9,576)
    2) S 1000 R (6,473)
    3) S 1000 XR (5,061)


    Ranking 2-cylinder middle class line (total 25,616)
    1) F 800GS (6,603)
    2) F 700GS (6,282)
    3) F 800R (5,971)
    4) F 800GS Adventure (4,129)
    5) F 800GT (2,631)


    The luxury models K1600 GT, GTL and GTL Exclusive sold 4,866 times.
    The scooters C650GT and C600 Sport sold 4,530 times. The electro scooter C Evolution found 957 buyers.


    The remaining bikes are G 650 GS/Sertao (4,047) and the K 1300 S/R (1,986 in it's last year)
    It doesn't have to make sense. It's ok if it's just fun :-)

            It could be that some of those are GT Sport but the Sport is registered as a 'regular' GT over here. Probably because the only difference is a smaller screen and a different colour so technically they are the same bikes.
