    Service Manual for K1600
    « on: 2016-05-02 07:35:47 »
    Hi there[/size]

I've started to look around for a service manual for my GT (like the Haynes manuals) and it's now getting out of warranty so looking to save some coin and do a few things myself.  I noted that there a couple on eBay.  Has anyone got one of them or could someone recommend the best one.

    Thanks

    Simon

I don't know of a book for the K1600 but there is a maintenance/repair DVD.
There is also a printed pdf of the DVD, but it is about 52 MB so way too big to post here.

my best advice yes use the CD of eBay its OK and it helps
but I'm am a engineer and if I was you extend the warranty just one part on my last bike came to £900.
not including labour £300 for a warranty you do the maths
how many miles has the bike done and what year

Get yourself a extended warranty, these bikes are way to expensive for parts.

            Hi there

My bike is a 2012 (almost 4 years old now) model and has done nearly 40,000kms.  I'm in Australia and although BMW are ok with some things in relation to issues when the bike is out of warranty (i.e. they replaced my right hand starter switch block last year when it just died without warning),although this is usually on the proviso that you have been getting it serviced at a BM dealer.  However to purchase extended warranty was expensive.

I know some people do their own servicing on the K1600 and I used to do the services on my old K100 and R1100.  I'm a fitter and turner by trade so I know to use a left handed screwdriver and stripped paint  ;D
