The bike needs a service every 10000 km (6000 miles) or every year, whichever comes first.
The bike gives a warning when it's about to need a service.
If they did the service at 15k miles and have reset the service light the service warning  won't come on until 21k miles or May 2017.
If (purely hypothetical of course) you would only ride 1000 miles each year, the bike still needs a service every year.

I have had 4 k1600 the 18k service is the big one I would ask them if that is the one they did about £500.00
the dealer all ways try not to do that if can get a way from it
just out of interest did you get it from a main dealer
its the sales man that's at fault hear

I bought my 62 plate GT about 15 months ago with 21k on the clock. Balderston BMW realised it hadn't had the 18k service so put it through at their expense, no problems at all, excellent customer care.
