New convert from R1200RT here 👍
    « on: 2017-03-12 19:54:54 »
Hello to everyone on this forum - as the title suggests I have traded my R1200RT LC for a new K1600GT Sport which is due this week so I thought I had better swap forums 😄

Why the swap? It's all about that engine!!!!

Also, I need to get a higher screen as the shortie one fitted from new doesn't work at all for me - anyone have any advice? I was favouring ztechniks Vstream but reviews are hard to come by.

Congrats on the bike and welcome to the forum.
The GT Sport has the smallest windscreen of all K1600's.
A windscreen is a very individual thing depending on your height and seating position.
I'm using a Wunderlich screen now. I suggest you go to a motorcycle parts store and try a few screens (over here that's possible in some shops).
If that's not an option maybe try a GT and/or GTL screen of a fellow K1600 rider in the vicinity.
      Many safe and happy miles.

I have vstream on my k1600gt I have tried others but this one works a treat without pushing you forward
        and without buffeting
        I recommend it highly

Thanks Steve-med 👍 Can I ask how tall you are and which one you bought i.e. Standard or tall. Also, where did you get those snazzy chrome screen fittings?  :D

And also while we are at it are those OEM engine bars?

I have just purchased a 2017 GT Sport and ordered it with the standard screen.

The dealer mistakenly fitted a 2017 GTL screen which is first class on the bike, however, he is getting me a standard screen so I will have the 2017 GTL screen for sale (unless the dealer wants it back)

Let me know if it is of interest.

              Hi,

I'm 6.1, 1600GT (2012) using ztechnik Vstream Z2463 ('smallest' one). I do not need the screen fully up too. It fits me wel, less noise, less shaking of the helmet. Better (for me) than the original screen. I can still look across the screen which is important for me in the rain.

                Hi David

How much are you asking (assuming the dealer doesn't ask for it back!)

Hi and welcome. Im a new k16 owner had mine a month or so now and a new board member too. Im very interested in after market screens as Im 6'6"" and am considering buying one. My only real concerns are will one work or am I just too tall and do they affect the overall look of the bike adversely. The OEM screen does look good.
Siempre en la mierda, sólo la profundidad que varía.

Hi Jimmer, I don't want to get ahead of myself.  The new one is supposed to be shipped to me this week, I will let you know after I have sorted it out with the dealer.

Thanks Phil but just too late, have ordered the Heed ones in black 👍

...which have turned up in grey despite all the paperwork and the box saying black!  Bit annoying but in fairness to Heed they have responded promptly to arrange a free collection and then send out the replacements.
