    Engine oil leak
    « on: 2017-10-24 09:16:31 »
    hi all
I’ve recently noticed an oil leak from the front of the engine, oil is showing down the front of the sump and on the btm of the engine block although not sure if that has blown up from a leak on the sump seal. Has anyone else had issues along this area ??

do you leve the bike on the side stand a lot  if so put on side stand have a clean up around that area
and run the engine till the fan cut in switch of and put some cardboard under the bike and leve over night
this will help locate the leak
          hope this helps

I hope you did not overfill the oil?  did you follow the oil checking instruction from the owners manual?  It is completely different from check oil in 99.9% of every other vehicle in the world.  You have to do it the BMW way.  Why do I ask????  There is a breather vent tube at the top of the engine and oil can escape from that if there is too much oil.

The oil level has been ok since the last service so if it is over full then it was done by the dealer on the last service, will update after the weekend once it has been in for a check

Oil leak all sorted turned out to be a loose stud on the cover which sits on the btm of the right hand side of the engine, was sorted out with no fuss by rainbow BMW in Rotherham
