    K 1600 GTL Starting Problem
    « on: 2013-03-16 19:20:51 »
When my 2012 K1600 GTL had been ridden  only 1,800 miles, it began to have an intermittent problem of the starter slightly hesitating when the starter switch was pushed. Shortly thereafter, the starter switch failed and had to be replaced. Now with 6,000 miles on the bike, it is once again intermittently hesitating when the starter switch is pushed. I fear that the hesitation  and the starter switch failure are related. Has anyone esle had such problems?

I would say its the switch for sure as the replacement fixed the problem the first time.  Some of us are on our third switch so you have a bit to go to catch up

My bike 10 days old and 950 miles on clock, occasionally when starting it feels as if its under strain to start or not turning over properly then fires up. Sure I have read this  problem somewhere else but cant find it. It had better not be a switch or other problem already !

My 2011 GTL also had on occasion what I would describe as a hesitating starter only when hot switched off and started within a short period, the bike has now done 88000 mile and this problem seems to have gone away, can only think that the engine was so tight and tighter when hot that the starter was having trouble with first crank.

Opps slight error.........should read 8800 mile, have not used it much this last year due to work commitments, take it out when I can to blow the cobwebs off it but only if I have the time to cover 250/300 mile a trip, also have a couple of other bikes to turn over now and again.
