I had a chance yesterday to see the Nav 5 fitted to a new 2014 model GT and compare it to the fitting on a pre 2014 bike.  The moulding in the dash is different on the new bike to accommodate the larger screen.  A Nav IV /660 will still fit but there will be a lot of the body showing.  It wont work very well the other way ie Nav V on the old type surround as the screen will be covered on all its sides.  I understand BMW will be supplying replacement surrounds for earlier bikes so the V will fit properly.  Don't know if it will work the other way round if you want to hold on to your 660/IV

There is a new shroud available from BMW for 2013 and older models:
        Part # 46 63 8 546 302
Price: 45 CHF (about 50 USD)

It's quite easy to replace. For the newer models, I assume you can do it the other way around (i.e. use the shroud from the older models)
It doesn't have to make sense. It's ok if it's just fun :-)

Today I had my first riding experience with the Nav V fitted in the 2012 GT moulding.

Depending to the type of dashboard you choose as a setting you can make good use of the Nav V in the old moulding.

I've order the 2014 dash with the altered moulding and I hope it will be in soon so I can make full use of the Nav V.

It will of course need  a new cover.  You never know, when they become available they might have one already fitted in the hole Then again.

There is a new firmware version 2.50 available for the Navigator V.

The most significant fix in my opinion, is that the unit will auto-connect with Smartphone Link, provided your bluetooth connectivity is active on your phone.
