    Uk Recall
    « on: 2014-01-17 17:42:39 »
I've just had a call from the local dealer. There is a recall for a update to the software on the ECU. (I have a 2012 plate bike).

I'll try to find out exactly why I'm getting the update. He did mention about a false fault alarm coming up (Yellow triangle on dash).

    For what reason. I'm unsure.

Is this the recall because of the risk of the engine stalling or did you already have that one done?

I will have to ask, as I'm not quite sure.

So the only recall in the UK has been for (possible) stalling; same as over here.

According to my dealer there has been no recent software updates. Definitely no recall.

That's strange. AFAIK the update for the stalling issue is a worldwide recall. If it's not the case in the UK you are the first country I know where it's not applicable.

This was some time ago and in the UK was just a campaign.  There seems to have been no official recalls at all in UK according to the link given by Winston.

Cotswold BMW currently have my bike in for the recall.

I'll ask them EXACTLY what it's for, and report back as soon as I know.

They did say it was about a half hour job, but they haven't rang back today (20/01/14).

On another note, I had one of those new water cooled GS's out for a few hours on Sunday.................... I was very impressed, and with the K16 requiring a extended warranty, a pair of tyres and a 12K service in two thousand miles....................... I'm now pondering a change, as that's the thick end of a grand off a new bike.

I seem to be worrying about the K16 and what it could cost if things went bad..................................

Also thinking about the possibility of changing to a GS Adventure for the same reason that's been mentioned above, have taken an extended warranty which runs out 1st September this year, so when the GSA comes out on March I will test and see what I think off it & if I like it may do a deal for the end of the season.

That would include my bike, I have not had any notification from Motorrad/dealers as of yet. Bike is parked up for winter at the moment so if I don't hear from them before the bike goes back on the road I will go & see my dealer then.

Where did you find this recall. I can find nothing on the VOSA site which doesn't even list the 1600.

Got the bike back...... Dealer said it's not a recall, it's an update to the software that eliminates a false fault alarm (Yellow triangle on dash).

I've also noticed that when the bike is in neutral the 'N' is now green in the large LCD Display. I'm sure it was white before it went in to the dealers. Anyone else's white, or am I just being daft ?
