    Good Evening, I'm new here...
    « on: 2014-03-28 14:42:20 »
    Good Evening!

My name is Haaken and I'm new here. I live in Vormsund, just outside Oslo, Norway. I'm also new to the BMW world, being a convert from Honda.

Tuesday next week I plan to start my new life as a BMW rider. I've bought a K 1600 GT 2014 model. I ordered the bike in January, but BMW can't deliver it complete by 1st of April. They can't deliver roll bars, navigation systems and two helmets with communication.

Here comes some questions: Should I accept the bike as is, and trust that the rest will be mounted at the first service? Should I wait with the payment, and wait with the delivery of the bike until they can deliver all of what I've ordered? Is this the level of service I can expect for the rest of my life as a BMW rider?

Welcome to the world  of  BMW.  Its difficult to know why your dealer can't supply helmets and headsets as they are normally in good supply as are engine bars these days.  The BMW Navigator V is in short supply in UK at present but BMW are at the mercy of Garmin with them. If you really want System 6 helmets I would suggest to contact another dealer who would probably have them in stock.  My advise would be don't buy the BMW Bluetooth system, go for a wired setup. Half the price and more efficient. Except for the engine bars I can see no reason why you should delay your bikes delivery for the other items.

Take the bike and get riding.
Don't pay for the extras until they deliver them.
Ask for a freebie for the hassle and disappointment.
        Enjoy the bike................. :)
        Just enjoy it!

Congrats with the bike and welcome. It's also my first BMW and my previous bike was also a Honda (ST1100 ABS/TCS).
If you trust your dealer take bike and start enjoying it.
Many safe miles with lots of smiles.

              ...

              Takk!
and I'm aware of it. Actually I thought I met you in Vormsund last Sunday. A k1600 gtl was parked at the centre and I waited for the driver to ask him about the bike. I asked him if he was Steinar, as you know, he wasn't.

I guess I will be seening you in the area this summer.

              Regards
