K1600 Spark Plug
« on: 2014-08-08 04:14:22 »
Howdy all, I hate to be disturbed by such a minor thing but honestly it just bugs the heck out of me.  I sent the BMW K1600 NGK sparkplug specs to Bosch to see if they had a comparable and more reasonably priced spark plug for my 2012 K16GLT.  I am not going to pay $23usd for a darn spark plug!!!!  holy moly.  It just bugs me that BMW would even try to pass this one on to their customers.  My truck iridium plugs last 100,000+++ US Miles at $2usd each.  I am still waiting on Bosch's response.  The $70-80 usd air filter that takes 1.5hrs to change is bad enough.  I will keep you posted.  Please understand that I do not mind spending the money if I thought it was a good deal.  Maybe me just venting.

1.5 hours to change the air filter? Are you including having your lunch in that time?

According to the service manual it's closer to half an hour.

Ok I admit the 1.5hrs was exaggerated a little because i also added a 39db air horn and did a brake bleed at the same time. But the $23 USD per spark plug that only last 18,000 US Mles and was custom spec designed by BMW and.....only available via NGK is a little hard to choke down.  I do hope Bosch has a match.   Thanks for keeping me straight gentlemen

... i also added a 39db air horn ...
I do hope you mean a 139 db air horn as 39 db is more quiet than the stock 'meep meep' horn.
(Sorry, you wanted to be kept straight  ;D)

These are a little better in price: https://tinyurl.com/jg9du3b
