Gas smell after long hot ride
    « on: 2014-12-03 19:39:49 »
    Hello K1600 land,
I bought a used K1600Gtl with 7500km a few months ago in Canada.  Last month, I rode it down to my winter home in Florida (I know, I know it's nice to be retired). Anyway, after riding the bike for a few hours on a hot day, I get a strong gas smell.  I brought it to the Mottorad dealer in Fort Lauderdale and he found no problem, said they are designed that way.  Said the smell comes from the vent pipe under the bike.  This doesn't sound right to me, flagship model of the best manufacturer should not do this.  Any one out there ever have a similar experience? Pete.

Get it back in, or to another dealer and check the fuel pump.  You're right, it shouldn't smell of fuel
